Matthew Wood (41) is a multidisciplinary engineer and product strategist with a rare blend of software development expertise, electrical engineering depth, and market intuition. He holds dual degrees in Computer Science and Networking from the College of Southern Nevada, and has spent his career building scalable, intelligent systems that bridge the gap between technical innovation and consumer utility.
Matthew serves as the architect behind the connected ecosystem that powers our products. From on-device firmware to the companion mobile app and AWS-based cloud infrastructure, he has led the end-to-end development of a truly smart water platform β one that is built for both users and service operators.
His technical leadership has roots in early pioneering work in the Internet of Things (IoT) space. As Principal Engineer at Starmark International, Matthew developed FanWise, a cellular-enabled vending system that allowed users to pay for products by posting on social media. The platform earned two U.S. patents and was an early example of leveraging user-generated content and micro-influencers to drive real-world product engagement β years ahead of today's influencer economy.
At PoolConnect (later acquired by AquaCal), Matthew designed and developed an IoT-based pool monitoring platform that continues to support thousands of installations today. The product delivered real-time diagnostics and control via cloud and mobile channels β a foundational concept that echoes in our product's smart features today.
Matthew's experience extends beyond the device layer. He has collaborated with major brands including Nickelodeon Resorts and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Conventions & Visitors Bureau, and has designed consumer apps that have earned multiple industry accolades, including a Webby, a Smartie, and Philips App of the Month. His work consistently merges intuitive UI/UX with deep system functionality β designing for novices while offering drill-downs for experts.
